Little Chef mascot gets makeover
The popular restaurant chain Little Chef has given its mascot, Fat Charlie, a makeover so that it looks more like a chef.
This comes after top Heston Blumenthal who is the chef proprietor of Michelin-starred Fat Duck restaurant in Bray, Berkshire, changed the group’s menu, that he made during the television documentary Big Chef Little Chef on Channel 4.
Last week, there was a statement released which suggested that Little Chef had redesigned its mascot so it looked like Blumenthal, with chef’s whites and glasses. But, a spokeswoman from the Little Chef told Caterersearch that that information was mistaken and had been mis-communicated.
The new revamped mascot sees Fat Charlie wearing chef’s whites, wearing a proper jacket and losing the neckerchief he used to sport. It was unveiled yesterday when Little Chef’s York outlet was relaunched,. The York outlet has reopened with Blumenthal’s menu.
The menu includes old favourites for example fish and chips but also new dishes such as braised ox cheeks and Abbot Ale pie.
The menu was first tested and trialled at the restaurants branch in Popham, Hampshire, it was trialled for more than six months and received a good response from customers including truck drivers.
