One of London’s greatest tourist attraction has been the seen of peculiar and embarrassing events recently.

It was revealed yesterday that two of the Beefeaters guarding the Tower of ¬London have been fired after subjecting a female colleague to hateful behaviour.

An investigation was carried out by officials at the historic building regarding several complaints made by Moira Cameron which alleged of vicious bullying by a few male Yeoman Warders.

Tower of London authorities dismissed two Beefeaters who had been ¬previously suspended for the hate campaign. There were also allegations against another male colleague although they couldn’t be proven.

The 44-year-old victim of the bullying happens to be the first female Beefeater to be appointed in the 1,000-year history of the Tower.

Ms Cameron joined the British Army at twenty years of age and served in Northern Ireland and Cyprus, ending her military career with the rank of ¬Warrant Officer Class 2.

According ho her, hostility started to rise after she had managed to beat five male contenders to the coveted position, which demands a Armed Forces career of a minimum of 22 years.

She said that one male colleague had demonstrated obvious opposition to her appointment.

The bullying allegation emerged last month and the 56-year-old male colleague received a warning from Scotland Yard after he had insulted Ms Cameron on her entry on webbased encyclopedia Wikipedia.

Officials at The Tower of London commented yesterday that they had immediately carried out an investigation as when the allegations emerged. After finding that she had fallen victim to a hate campaign, the Tower took the necessary and appropriate measures.

Through a statement, Tower authorities said that they expect their staff to reflect the attraction’s commitment to diversity by maintaining a working environment where one can find support. They added that the event had represented a difficult period for the Tower, in particular to the Yeoman Body.

Today, Ms Cameron is still a Beefeater at the Tower although she refused all comments about the issue.
